A Little Taste of What's to Come ... (New Episode Premiering January 28th!)

So we'll be looking at ...

... witches!  No, not nice witches like Samantha, but wicked witches ...

...more wicked than Serena, even.

Maybe more like Angelique.  Or not, though Joan Bennett is involved ...

... or Dark Willow (who is emphatically not a Black Eyed Kid) ...

Yeah, that's closer.

Episode 11 debuts January 28th.

Episode Six: Ultraterrestrials Scare Us!

Katya introduced me to the magical term "ultraterrestrial" (oops; blogger doesn't recognize that as a word) during episode six (click here to listen), while we talked about the so-called "black eyed kid" phenomenon (I wish they made a sarcasm font; sorry Katya!).  I found this lovely image of the ultimate ultraterrestrial, Katya's darling, the Mothman!  We'll get around to doing a Mothman episode; don't you worry your pasty little faces about it.

Look out!  Here he is!

Episode 6: Dark Willow ... Black Eyed Kid?

The OG black-eyed kid.  Check out Episode 6 here and find out what all the fuss is about and why I hate the internet.

Blessed be!

Episode 6: The Night Children!

This is a page from the 1970s Gold Key comic book adaptation of Dark Shadows that I referenced in Episode 6 (click here), where Katya and I talk about the (so not laughable) phenomenon of (stop rolling yours eyes, Laramie!) Black Eyed Kids.  (Or BEKs.  Because it's easier to keep a straight face when you're talking about them except it's really not.)

Annnnnnnway ... witness vampire Barnabas Collins as he is manipulated by those darned BEKs.  I mean Night Children.

(Also:  this is a little hint about our next episode ...)

Episode 6: Black-Eyed Kids Scare Us!

During tonight's episode, Katya makes a shameless plug on my behalf for the play I wrote last summer inspired by an article I stumbled upon (thank you, Facebook!) concerning an elderly woman in Illinois stalked and harassed by something that comes at night ... for four years.  Finally the victim's grandson was able to catch an image of it  (him?  her?) on a deer camera (whatever that is).  Here is the image and the link to the article (click here).

Happy Halloween from This Place Scares Us!

Happy Halloween, kitty cats!  Here are a few things that scare us, some from past episodes, some from THE FUTURE (!), and some ... eh, they're freaky.

Yick.  The poor dead girl from the opening of It Follows, the subject of our premiere episode (click here to listen!).  This is only one of many reasons you shouldn't wear high heels to the beach.

Ol' shaggy, the subject of Stephen King's Silver Bullet, who is definitely a werewolf and not some kind of angry hell bear.

Who is this fanged fiend and why isn't the blood of the innocent keeping him forever young?  Find out in Episode 7, forthcoming ...

What horrible thing lurks at the threshold of Theodora's bedroom?  Ask Shirley Jackson, the mistress of the macabre and the author of The Haunting of Hill House as well as "The Lottery", the subject of Episode 2

You'll like Mr. Barlow ... and he'll like you.  (We'll cover 'Salem's Lot, I promise.)

And a little hint about our forthcoming episode, debuting November 12th ...

Clinkies!
